 On 26th February 2024, students of Banimandir Railway H.S. School, Siliguri Junction, participated in Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Vision 2047 with zeal and enthusiasm. The occasion was graced by many dignitories and officials of N.F. Railway. Performance of our students was recognised by presentng them certificates and mementos. In a bid to modernize this expansive network, Indian Railways has initiated the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, aimed at redeveloping 1309 stations nationwide. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations on August 6 last year.

What is Amrit Bharat Stations Scheme?

The scheme's primary objective is to enhance station facilities with modern infrastructure, including roof plazas and city centers, fostering a more convenient and comfortable experience for passengers. With a substantial allocation of over Rs 24,470 crore by the government, the initiative underscores a commitment to bolstering India's transportation infrastructure.

As part of the scheme, Indian Railways is crafting comprehensive Master Plans, integrating urban development around railway stations. This integrated approach signifies a holistic vision aimed at fostering overall urban development centered on these pivotal transport hubs.

What are the key features of Amrit Bharat Stations Project?

Among the scheme's key features is the provision for dedicated spaces within stations, such as Executive Lounges and areas for small business meetings, catering to diverse passenger needs. Furthermore, efforts to ensure smooth access encompass widening roads, removing unwanted structures, installing well-designed signages, establishing dedicated pedestrian pathways, and enhancing parking facilities, alongside lighting arrangements.
